DOMINION IS A MANDATE

I want to write today on dominion, taking into full cognizance that this is the theme of our annual convention in our church. Speaking in Genesis 1:26,
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Just the way God said in Gen 1: 3 “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light”, He said about mankind: “Let them have Dominion”! This statement is not a suggestion. It’s not an advice. In fact, it is not a plea. “Let them have Dominion” is a mandate! We must arise and deliver on this mandate.

You must arise and take dominion in the places where God has called us to represent Him. God has already put you in a position to do so because of His blessings that you carry. It will not be God’s fault if you fail to walk in dominion. Dominion has to be taken!

In view of this, I enjoin you to seize every opportunity and attend our Giant Killers’ Conference starting this Wednesday the 18th of September to take Dominion. Make sure that you attend every Power Night (6PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week). I believe God for the release of prophetic words every night. I, therefore, charge you to be prayerful and discerning enough to pick and believe those prophetic words that will be released.

That is not all. As God keeps raising new ministers for his vineyard, it is expedient that we support their journey and help them to navigate without running into pitfalls ahead. It is to this end that I specially invite everyone who is young in ministry to attend our Young Ministers Conference holding by 9AM on Thursday and Friday this week as I will be teaching on the Pitfalls in Ministry.

This is a conference that is the total package and one you cannot afford to miss. It will all be taking place at one venue; Foundation of Truth Assembly’ 40/42 Imam Dauda Street, off Eric Moore Road, Surulere, Lagos. I look forward to welcoming you.
Remember that taking dominion is your duty. It’s a mandate. Take dominion!

EXPERIENCE IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST TEACHER…GOD IS!

I am an avid fan of proverbs and adages but also a thinker and student of life so I implore you to give me your undivided attention for the next 5 minutes as you read through this piece with an open heart. I have learnt many things from God that I did not have to experience in life and ran into some scriptures that have molded my philosophy of life and ministry.

One of the scriptures I love is found in Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians and it’s about how the church learnt Christ, ‘But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus (Eph. 4 v 20-21).

The word I love in the passage is, ‘YOU HAVE NOT SO LEARNT CHRIST’, so it gives me pleasure to reveal many other ways we can learn outside Experience so that we may be wiser. In fact, I love to say that ‘wise men learn from other people’s mistakes and errors and only fools learn from theirs by making the same mistakes.’

I do not believe a lady has to Experience Sex before marriage to learn about how terrible men are. I do not believe it’s great to have or Experience a broken marriage to know how to teach people on what to do to avoid a Broken Marriage. I do not just think it’s wise to Go to Hell and come back (impossible) so that you can come and write books on how to avoid going to Hell; the Bible tells us what to do. Let me Inspire you today on 4 Ways to Learn and be taught in life and I will also share my opinion on the Best Teacher of all the 4 Ways.

4 SIMPLE WAYS TO LEARN IN LIFE

BE TAUGHT BY SOMEONE: This is probably the most common and popular way of learning. We learnt how to walk by being taught, we learnt our alphabets in school (formally) when our teachers taught us, we learnt many things like how to greet and so on at home (informally) when our parents and siblings taught us. This is the most common way today; we learn a lot by being Taught by Teachers. So, I celebrate Parents and Teachers today for teaching us things informally and formally.

BY EXPERIENCE: There are some things that our parents and teachers did not teach us but we learnt by ourselves through Experience. Sometimes, we may have been taught these things but we did not believe them until we had to experience it ourselves. For instance, I remembered my parents taught me not to steal but I had to steal while in Boarding house and it took me experiencing different strokes of the cane and days on the field cutting grasses to know that stealing is bad. It was a nasty Experience and I immediately knew there was something wrong with stealing. Experience indeed can be a nasty teacher but not the best in my opinion.

BY STUDYING PEOPLE AND OBSERVING CONDUCTS: This is another way of learning and those who are deeply reflective and intelligent have used this method to their advantage. I also prefer this method because I’ve had to add to my knowledge bank through observation of people, Politics, Power, animals, conducts, etc. Solomon the wisest man on earth learnt like this and wrote most of his wise proverbs through this way, ‘And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl…’ (1 Kings 4 v 32-33).

LEARNING FROM GOD: God is the Best Teacher any day and anytime. The Holy Spirit is introduced to us in scriptures as our Teacher and Helper, many believers do not consult Him in times of trials and troubles, we trust Men more than God in my humble opinion. In fact, I believe some secular preachers have portrayed God as an Old Man who is not techy and up to date with Situations of men on earth, hence they have taught people to use their ‘wisdom’ and ‘brains’ when it comes to some issues with the exact words “take God out of it.” God is All knowing and is the Ancient Of Days that knows about All Days including Today. He is not Archaic but Ancient.

I pray you have been Inspired today by this article and will change your position about learning.

THE BIG MAN SYNDROME

I had a conversation with a lady about a board meeting we were planning to have, she mentioned her challenge with a board member who in her view was deliberately making life miserable for her, she told me to kindly intervene by putting a call through to this gentleman. I obliged and indeed called him, hoping to build a rapport with him and possibly start a relationship beyond formalities. I was shocked at his response over the phone and quickly adjusted myself thereafter.

We discussed my telephone conversation with this fellow who is supposed to be a ‘believer’ and ‘mature Christian.’ I shared my experience with her and she laughed at me and told me that she believes he is acting up because ‘…he is a big man’, I shrugged off that phrase and I immediately told her ‘he is a proud man.’

It is very important to call vices by their names and not try to make virtues out of those vices. I strongly believe this ‘Big Man Syndrome’ is killing our society in Nigeria and those who carry the disease are also Born Again Christians shamefully. We have become bloated by our ‘statuses’ in the society, the economic class we belong to has affected our psyche about who we are, our wealth has pumped false sense of security into us and we have become detached from certain realities of life.

Paul addressed this ‘Big Man Syndrome’ in his epistle to the Roman Believers and I’ll like to Inspire you today by taking a closer look at the scriptures, ‘for I say through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to THINK OF HIMSELF more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to Everyman the measure of faith’ (Rom. 12 v 3).

Having considered the above scriptures deeply, I make bold to conclude that that those we call ‘Big Men’ may just be called ‘Proud Men’ by God and Apostle Paul if he were to be around today. That is not to say there aren’t people we should honour but people should not demand for such honour by oppressing others with their privileged positions in life, because those positions are temporary not permanent.

5 WAYS TO IDENTIFY THE SYNDROME IN MEN

THEY TALK DOWN ON PEOPLE: Most men with this ‘Big Man Syndrome’ are known by the way they talk to people around them. They talk down on people and disrespect them simply because of their status in life and positions as well. It’s a Vice not a Virtue and we should despise the same.

THEY DO NOT GREET PEOPLE ‘FIRST’ BUT DEMAND TO BE GREETED: I have often wondered why some people still never greet you first until you greet them, and when you do greet them, they will sneer their replies towards you despitefully. This is called the ‘Big Man Syndrome’ and it is very UNCHRISTIAN in my opinion

THEY KEEP YOU WAITING DELIBERATELY EVEN WHEN THEY ARE FREE: I am sure many of my readers have experienced this from the Big Men they have had cause to see at one point or the other. They just keep people waiting and it makes them feel ‘Big’ indeed.

THEY THROW NAMES AROUND AND WANT TO INTIMIDATE OTHERS: Name dropping is a major feature of Big Men around us today and they do so to intimidate their listeners so that they can ‘bow and tremble’ before them. That was what Haman did towards Mordecai, but the Lord humbled him and elevated Mordecai. I pray you purge this disease.

THEY LIKE STATUS TOYS AND ACQUIRE THEM IN NUMBERS: This is the African in Big Men. I have seen many people acquire status symbols and toys because of perception of ‘Bigness’ In Nigeria; they have the latest phones, cars, bling, etc, just to show that they have arrived and are Big Men. It is very sad and shameful that Believers are doing the same as unbelievers, we don’t know the difference anymore and we cultivate such odd vices and mannerisms in our churches.

In conclusion, I feel compelled to say that this Big Man Syndrome our Disease is seen more in African Countries than Western countries, like a disease clinging to the black man and we have all gotten bugged, believers and unbelievers alike. It’s a deadly Syndrome and we should purge ourselves from the same.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Today is celebrated in America as Thanksgiving Day and their citizens globally will be taking out the day to spend time with their families and loved ones. It is a very unusual day in their lives and many of them take this celebration very seriously; they do not go to work, only emergency services workers are allowed to spend some time at work, shops close, the Leaders join millions of citizens to Thank God for being with them over the years.

I am not interested in writing about the History behind Thanksgiving in America but want to Inspire you today on Thursday to be THANKFUL to God always. I know my article comes out on Mondays but today’s article is coming out on Thursday because of this special occasion. I want to join the most powerful country in the world to celebrate Thanksgiving Day because it is in line with my faith and values.

There was an event of healing of some lepers mentioned in the Bible where Jesus healed 10 lepers but only one of them came back to THANK Him. That account infuriated the Master and He publicly ‘Condemned’ the action of the 9 Lepers and ‘Commended’ the only person that came back to show gratitude. From the passage mentioned, it is safe to deduce that only 10% of people that receive blessings that come back to Thank God

‘Then Jesus answering said, were there not ten cleansed? But Where are the nine, there are not found that returned to give Glory to God but this STRANGER’ (Luke 17 v 17-18)

We celebrate our own version of Thanksgiving to God in our church annually on the third Sundays of December to celebrate God’s faithfulness and kindness to us as His children, I often ask people to come with a Thankful heart and not an entitlement culture. I’ll share my thoughts with you on why people don’t Thank God.

4 POSSIBLE REASONS WHY PEOPLE DON’T THANK GOD

ENTITLEMENT CULTURE: Those nine people that were healed possibly didn’t come back to Thank God because they were Jewish hence felt Entitled to the healing. Many people in church feel very entitled to receiving certain Blessings from God and don’t see why they should be Thankful to Him because ‘He was obligated to do so…’. What a wrong mindset!

IT’S NOT A BIG DEAL: Another possible reason those lepers didn’t show gratitude was because it wasn’t a Big Deal to them as Jewish people. There were many documented testimonies of lepers healed in the past so why should this be different? After all, He is the Messiah and should prove that to them by Healing Lepers like them.

THEY WERE ON THEIR WAY TO THE PRIESTS: They were told to go show themselves to the Priests and actually got healed on the way, so they would love to approach Thanksgiving Religiously not actually with Gratitude in their hearts. The only person that came back didn’t have a relationship with the Priests (he wasn’t Jewish) but with the Healer who healed them. We sometimes become so ‘Religious’ that we lose our ‘spirituality’.

THERE WERE OTHER PROBLEMS UNSOLVED IN THEIR LIVES: This is the most popular reasons why people don’t Thank God, they focus on several other problems in their lives and ignore the little ones that He solves daily for us. That kind of attitude always shows ingratitude towards God and people that help them because they trivialize some acts of kindness because of the bigger ones they were looking for.

Let me drop my pen and close my thoughts by asking you to celebrate the goodness of God in your life while also asking you to cultivate an attitude of THANKS always.

Rev. Yomi Kasali – THE CCTV; Miracle or Magic

I sat somewhere in my office and watched some of the proceedings at my reception and church premises with keen interest. I could see what was happening all around me over several CCTV cameras from the comfort of my office away from the control room.

However, the fact that I could see people that were not aware of my watching them Inspired me deeply and caused me to meditate on the similarities between CCTV and our God in Heaven. There are so many ways that technology has proven the Bible right and the things we read daily as possible. Over the years, people have often wondered how this Great God could have the whole earth under His watch always but now we can confidently see the possibility with technological advancements in our world.

Let me Inspire you today with this scripture in 2 Chron. 16 v 9, ‘For the EYES OF THE LORD runs to and fro throughout the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect towards Him…’ This is an amazing passage in the Bible that spoke about our Father watching everyone around the whole earth to support, defend, protect and prosper those who love Him dearly, yet some sceptics want to believe that the Bible is archaic while they believe technology is believable and not the Bible. I say, that is rather laughable.

I recall watching my guard doing some things that was unprofessional without him knowing because he momentarily forgot about the CCTVs. We are all like that at times and conveniently forget that God is watching us all.

4 WAYS TO PROVE THE OMNISCIENCE OF GOD

GOD SEES ALL THINGS: The Bible tells us that all things are ‘naked’ before the eyes of the Lord and nothing is hidden before Him with whom we have to deal (Heb. 4 v 13). We should know that He sees everything and all of us just like the CCTV monitors in front of me and the people did not know I was watching them all the while they were waiting to see me.

GOD DEFENDS THE RIGHTEOUS: The Lord will not let certain things happen to His loved ones because He sees ahead of us and He will not let us walk into dangerous waters and take us out of harms way. Like a loving Father, He will not let the robberies happening a few streets away take our lives; He will redirect our paths and defend the righteous always.

NOTHING SHAKES AND SHOCKS GOD: There are no ‘accidents’ or ‘surprises’ with God because of the CCTV effect. There is no way someone outside my office will surprise me when they come inside because I am very much aware of their being outside and for how long. It is very clear that nothing happens by accident with God and He is not surprised by certain events in earth.

GOD KNOWS HOW LONG WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR HIM: Someone came into my office once and lied to me that she has been waiting for quite a while outside at the reception. I laughed within me and subtly corrected her without making her feel very bad. She didn’t know I knew precisely when she walked into my office and how long she had waited. God knows how long we have been waiting for Him and He will call us in when He is ready for us. Let us be patient with God.

I hope you have been Inspired by this piece; look up and know that God is aware of what and where you are. Remember the CCTV idea is as old as the earth but just manifested through technological advancement in this age.

COVID-19 AND THE TEST RESULT

I remember back then in school, for every lesson learnt on a subject (maths etc), there was always a test to prove one’s knowledge of those long hours of lectures and those tests usually carry 20-30% of the total examination score. Over the years, we have received lectures on different subjects from the pulpit from great preachers and the great churches we attend. Now, it is time to test our knowledge on a particular subject and everywhere is quiet just like the test hall (because the whole world is on a pause due to COVID-19) and we have all been handed papers to live out or write out what we have learnt over the years. Now is the time for the big test and only those who have been taught right and assimilate same will pass this test because, unlike school days, it is not the teachers(preachers) that have set the test but the education board (God).

With the rise and spread of this virus comes along with it economic hardships that will hit most countries hard or harder and now more than ever, when we are expected to fill out our answer sheets, Christians are puzzled and oblivious on how to react or give answers to these test questions which is why we have homes falling apart, rift, rivalry and bitterness on the rise because we have not been taught right on this particular subject. Most preachers have dwelt on the ‘prosperity message’ forgetting to teach their teeming members on how to live during a time of adversity.

Apostle Paul puts it so succinctly in Philippians 4:11-12 ‘Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned…I know both how to be abased (adversity), and I know how to abound (prosperity): every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.’ Success is not about being affluent but knowing how to manage your wealth and how to survive in the time of adversity. The wisest man that ever lived admonished us to be like the ants in prov. 6:6-8;
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

The ants understand the relevance and meaning of seasons and what they represent, and as such, prepares herself for those seasons. So also, there are always two (2) main seasons in the life of man, season of prosperity and season of adversity.

I will be sharing with you five (5) keys on how to survive in the days of adversity.

FIVE (5) KEYS TO SURVIVING IN THE DAYS OF ADVERSITY

DO NOT LIVE ABOVE YOUR MEANS: You may have received a pay cut from your employers or your salary may have been withheld throughout the duration of this lockdown/pandemic or you may have lost your job, it is important that you do not live in the illusion that you still earn what you were earning before the lockdown. It is important that you do not begin life after the pandemic settling debts owed during the pandemic.

DO NOT TRY TO PLEASE AND IMPRESS OTHERS: it is pertinent to note that you do not need the approval of anyone to be termed successful or to be ‘balling’ (using the terminology of the new agers). If you have garri at home, drink your garri with joy without thinking about the chicken, sharwarma or pizza your colleague or friend just posted on their social media handle. Be wise!

IT IS TEMPORARY: this season will not last forever, do understand that this is only a temporary setback not permanent. God has His plan for you and that is still going to come to fruition, so you have to trust Him at this time to pull you through these trying times. So do not stop praying, singing, and laughing because things are tough, rather be joyful because you have a much tougher backbone (God). Be cheerful and be of good spirit.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU CANNOT CHANGE: this is the trap most people are falling into during this lockdown. Jonah slept through the storm when he was running away from God because he knew he could not change what was happening with the storm (Jonah 1:5). The curve is not being flattened, the numbers are rising by the day, the whole world is on lockdown, the price of oil has crashed; so, what? One thing is sure, you cannot change any of the things happening in the world right now so why do you worry? Trust God and believe that He is faithful and just to deliver you from this pandemic.

DO NOT TRANSFER YOUR ANGER TO YOUR LOVED ONES: this is another trap that the devil wants you to fall into. This lockdown is an opportunity that should be used to play with your family and loved ones; play (ludo games, playstation, ayo games, card games) and pray for and with your loved ones and strengthen that family bond. They are not the cause of this pandemic or lockdown, they can do nothing about it either so why take out your anger on them? Rather, embrace and bring them closer to yourself and you may find out that they are more important than your work because they will always love you unconditionally.

ISOLATION OR DESOLATION; GOD’S IDEA OR MAN’S?

I have been in Isolation for some weeks in obedience to the Government’s directive to stay at home, so that we don’t get infected by this deadly virus. Recently, I’ve also noticed from the conversations I’ve had with people that, it’s now becoming ‘Desolation’ to many people who feel deprived from companionship of their loved ones outside their homes.

Let’s take a deep breath and think about the words Isolation and Desolation for a minute. Take an evaluation not your response to this ‘stay at home’ order and answer if you’ve felt isolated by choice or force or also feel desolate. They are different and it’s for our good indeed.

My concern today is to share God’s opinion on the matter with you and possibly inspire you that this started from God but in a different way. I found a scripture that Inspired me greatly on the concept of Isolation not Desolation, it’s what Paul told the Corinthian Church, ‘…come out from among them, and be ye SEPARATE, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing (Covid19) and I will receive you’ (2 Cor 6 v 17). Amazing revelation that God isn’t against Isolation (separation) so that His people don’t get contaminated or infected.

There are many naive believers who think self isolation is a ploy to stop the church from growing and the plan of the anti Christ to start the New World Order, well I totally disagree with those notions and choose to believe that God wants us protected and isolated if that is the only way to get to that point. Someone else might want to say, isn’t God Almighty and can do all things? Why can’t we believe Him to Preserve us whether in isolation or not…well, you might want to read that passage again…Touch Not Any Unclean Thing.

I don’t want us in desolation but in isolation towards our well being and sound health. This means God Himself knows that there are some deadly and hazardous things or viruses that we should not TOUCH hence, the way to be safe is by being separated from such things that can contaminate us. He was speaking about the alliance of Light and Darkness, partnership between a Believer and Infidel, Accord between Christ and Belial etc.

5 WAYS TO OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING AS A BELIEVER.

STAY SAFE AND SAVED: We should do everything to stay ‘safe’ physically by avoiding social gatherings, yet we should not get involved in things that will make us lose our ‘salvation’ in Christ by backsliding from Christ. So, Stay Safe and Saved.

SELF-ISOLATE NOT LIVE IN DESOLATION: Be careful not to deprive yourself of good fellowship using digital means. Ensure you attend regular church services online and prayer meetings as well. Use this opportunity to fight loneliness even when you feel alone.

STAY MENTALLY FIT NOT JUST PHYSICALLY FIT: I’m more worried about the mental state of many people out there especially believers who are used to living in ‘church’ premises and campgrounds because their isolation may backfire and as such lose their minds. Remember, ‘God has not given us the spirit of Fear but of love, power and SOUND MIND.’ Keep your mind healthy.

DON’T EMBRACE FEAR BUT LIVE BY FAITH: This is simply from the above verse; Fear is of the enemy and we can only please God by living in faith. Ensure you don’t get bugged down with the plethora of bad news on television or other medium because it’s going to put more fear in your heart than faith. Don’t be afraid but look forward to the good times ahead of you after covid19.

LOOK BEYOND COVID19: The greatest proof of faith is to ‘look ahead’ and not sink in today’s plight. You must start planning to start your life, work, friends, church, money plans and dreams after covid19. This shall pass away soon and then we shall all get back to our normal lives. Don’t stop ‘dreaming’ because of this challenge.

REBELLION IS LIKE WITCHCRAFT… COVID-19

The above topic is from my Bible, the Lord categorically told the King that any form of Rebellion will be likened to Witchcraft, yet many believers and Christian leaders are encouraging rebellion in the name of the Lord.

I watched a video of a very popular preacher in the south-south area of NIGERIA, this person is always involved in one negative behaviour or the other, berating the Government concerning Covid19 and asking his members to refuse being tested because it’s the way of spreading the virus… laughable indeed.

The fellow was encouraging what the Lord condemned and Likened to witchcraft; Rebellion! Any act of Rebellion to constituted authority is considered wilful sin against the Lord because it’s strengthened by deliberate disobedience to those in authority. ‘For Rebellion is as the SIN OF WITCHCRAFT, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king’ (1 Sam. 15 v 23).

The reason for the downfall of the first kind of Israel was summarized in above verse of scriptures, he was disobedient to the word of the Lord and it was considered as an act of Rebellion. The earlier verse says, ‘…Obedience is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams’, so God had to tell him that to obey His servant the prophet was better than sacrificing to God. This was a directive to a KING from the King of Kings so that he would know that Everyman should obey constituted authority.

Let me Inspire you today on the biblically recognized constituted authorities over our lives so that we can understand the mind of God concerning Obedience and Rebellion which is the opposite of Obedience in the spirit. It was for this reason that God casted out Satan from His presence and removed Adam from Staying in His garden. Let’s be obedient to those in Authority over us always.

5 CONSTITUTED AUTHORITY THAT THE BIBLE RECOGNIZES

GOVERNMENT: God has placed people in positions of Authority over us in nations. They are to make laws for the good of the society and we are expected to ‘obey’ those laws, pay our taxes and dues, be socially responsible and to do otherwise will be considered rebellious. Many preachers act like they’ve not read Rom. 13 v 1-4. Those in political leadership over our lives are considered ‘ministers of God’ hence we must obey them. Please OBEY THE LAW AND DIRECTIVES OF GOVERNMENT CONCERNING COVID19.

AT HOME: The constituted authority at home and in a Family is the Man of the house, hence, wives should respect their husbands, children obey their fathers and the home shall be in sync with Heaven’s order. Jezebel was called a witch in the Bible for manipulating her husband and controlling the home. We should not let the Rebellious women groups out there push us into Rebellion under any circumstances. I believe a woman is not under authority of every Man but ONLY her husband and I do not want to work with any woman who says she will not be under authority of any man even her husband.

AT WORK: This is where it gets tricky because of some egocentric men who are also Rebellious do not want to be under the authority of women under any circumstances even at work. The boss at work must be obeyed at all times, be it a woman or man except the person asks you to do what is unscriptural like when the Woman Boss of Joseph asked him to sleep with her and he refused by jumping out of the window, he was fired. Potiphar’s wife asked for too much and something out of order with work. The Bible says, servants should obey their masters as unto the Lord.

IN CHURCH: The spiritual authority men of God carry is primarily for their churches and secondarily for the nation if such are prophets and moral leaders. Many of those we call ‘bishops’ have lost moral rectitude to lead in the nation because of being found to lean towards a ‘political preference’. That is why our country lacks true Moral Leaders because the politicians have spiked the hands of those who should speak ‘truth to power’. I cannot exert authority over another man’s flock; it is for those under my leadership in FOTA.

SOCIAL LIFE: Sportsmen understand the role Umpires and Referees play in every game to give us pleasure in our social lives. They oversee the game and determine what happens during the match. I’ve seen referees (less paid of course) give marching orders to players (better paid and more popular) and coaches and they had to OBEY because doing otherwise would be considered REBELLION and may be sanctioned even further. That’s just the way it works in societies where things are in order.

I hope the above is clear and we can now shun Rebellion or else we shall consider you a WITCH.

SYMPTOMS; RED FLAGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

Covid-19 is an existential threat to our way of life and world today and I’ve been writing articles in the last few weeks in a bid to Inspire you on Moral and Spiritual Lessons from this Pandemic. I’ll like to draw your attention to the Symptoms of Covid-19 that should trouble anyone and make them rush to the hospital for Tests.

Symptoms are Signs and indications that something may be wrong with the carrier of those symptoms, they are what I call red flags and heath conscious beings do not play with symptoms. We have been told that the major symptoms of Covid-19 are, Fever, Sneezing, Dry Cough and Shortness of Breath etc as released by the WHO.

The moment anyone manifests the above symptoms, they are advised to get ‘tested’ towards ascertaining their status, either positive or negative for Corona Virus. However, let us take a closer look at our spiritual health today and check the symptoms of an unhealthy Spiritual Being. We must always run the Tests to confirm our status as believers.

Paul the Apostle charged the Church in Corinth to ‘Test’ themselves whether they are in ‘faith’ or ‘healthy spiritually’. This is very important for those who want to be in ‘positive’ healthy status before God and not Negative. He wrote to the Church about their Faith which is an irony because we believe once someone is in Church, he must be in Faith.

‘Examine yourselves whether you are still in Faith, Prove (Test) your own selves. Know you not your own selves, How that Jesus Christ is in you…’ (2 Corr. 13 v 5). It’s very amazing how the Bible encourages us to ‘Test’ or ‘Prove’ ourselves whether we are in faith. So, do not mind the Pastors and Bishops who tell you not to Test yourself for Corona virus, they are not speaking out of faith but fear.

5 DEADLY SYMPTOMS TO TEST YOUR STATUS IN FAITH

PRAYERLESSNESS: This is a major symptom that reveals there is a problem with your spiritual health. Once this symptom shows up like coughing literally, rush to your pastor and take the Test. You may be weak in the Faith and dying spiritually not strong. Even our brothers and sisters in Islam pray as well yet we that call ourselves men of faith do not pray.

WEAK CONSCIENCE: I am amazed at how many people think they can be morally sound without a strong conscience. Being a Morally sound person is having a strong sense of ‘right and wrong’ so if you are go to church yet morally bankrupt, I doubt your faith is strong. You must answer people with a good and strong conscience.

SLOTHFUL IN SERVICE: Those who show this symptom are weak and not growing in faith. This is a very deadly symptom in the church today, people call themselves Christians and do not work for God; how that is possible is still strange to me. We are ‘saved to serve’ and Paul told us to be fervent in the spirit not slothful in business when serving the Lord.

GIVING: This is likely going to be misunderstood but I will mention it anyhow. Those who don’t give to charity, humanity, God, and others yet claim to be in faith are deceiving themselves. This is a major symptom of selfishness and self-centered nature of man which is a sickness in the spirit. Those who are morally and spiritually sound are givers without expecting back in return.

FELLOWSHIP: Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are. The symptoms you manifest tells us the sickness you carry. The people you fellowship with will give you the sickness you shall carry. We all need to take the Test and evaluate our friendships and those we fellowship with. In whose company are we comfortable and relaxed. This to a large extent points to what we can or cannot get.

Kindly take the Test today to know your status spiritually, just as there are symptoms in the natural and that medical science has proven to always be correct pointers to the sickness or disease, there are also symptoms in the spiritual that tells us you are unfortunately sick and not healthy.

FOR ME TO LIVE IS CHRIST

Nice cars, nice watches, beautiful house, lovely family, good life, designer clothes, fat bank account, and many more material things like the above may be what most people in capitalistic society live for but should there be a better reason for living?

Life is heavily complicated and those who have a philosophical approach to it aren’t respected in deeply materialistic societies. Many will never like the life lived by the likes of Mandela, Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jnr, Mother Teresa and so many moral leaders in the world. In fact, many people may not like to even make Jesus their role model if He wasn’t our saviour and Lord because of the power of materialism in today’s world.

Paul mentioned one of the most powerful words in the Bible and we should use it as our signature on yahoo mails like I have done for some years now; ’For Me To Live Is Christ…’ (Philippians 1 v 21). This is what should give your life a meaning and define purpose of living. I believe that we should give deep thoughts to redefining our values by moulding them around Christ as believers.

Allow me to Inspire you on how to live for Christ without being fanatical or eccentric in life. This is very important for those who want to Live for Christ who may not necessarily be a Pastor, Deacon, Evangelist, Missionary, or some far right Christian. They are just some simple tips that can aid you to Live For Christ, by Living For Why Christ Came.

5 WAYS TO LIVE FOR CHRIST

1. LOVE PEOPLE: Christ loved people and lived for those around Him. I marvel at those who profess to be Christians and Hate people. It is amazingly strange because that’s so ‘UnChrist’ because it’s Love that defined His life and ministry.

2. FIGHT FOR THE WEAK: Jesus spoke up for the weak and feeble, helped the widows and orphans; that is how to Live for Christ. How many of us are really fighting for the weak in society and speaking up for the oppressed yet we say we are Christians but don’t reflect His values.

3. FEED THE POOR: I am sure you remember that Jesus actually Fed 5000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fishes, we should do similar things today like Paying the school fees of children whose parents cannot afford cannot afford to send them to school, helping those who don’t have accommodation, and supporting with our resources regularly. That is what it means to Live for Christ.

4. LIVE A LEGACY: Everything we say today about Jesus was done 2000 years ago yet we still mention His works today because He Lived for the future and left a Legacy behind. I am tired of seeing our church leaders living today like that’s the only reason to live.

5. SIMPLY DO GOOD: This actually summarizes the Life of our Lord and Saviour, it’s so captured in one of my favourite verses for doing good, ‘How God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who went about DOING GOOD…’ (Acts 10 v 38). Just do good and you will be Living for Christ. Don’t break the law, don’t run red lights, don’t jump the queues, don’t steal, don’t be corrupt, don’t tell lies etc. Just do good!

LIVING A QUIET LIFE

I had lunch with my son in my favourite Chinese restaurant while on vacation recently and we had a very good father and son conversation about Life, Success, Money, Relationships and Work. He shared his dreams with me again and I listened to him with keen interest to know if he still had his godly values intact as his mother and I have taught him over the years. He then mentioned his shared dream with someone he considers his best friend, when profiling this fellow to me again, he said something like, ‘…you know Parker, he is a quiet, Christian accountant…’, I picked the word Quiet and started a conversation like I love to do always.

My opinion of a successful life is formed from many scriptures and one of which summarizes the mind and will of God as ‘Living a Quiet Life’, I quickly shared that scripture with him and told him how to achieve such in this boisterous world of ours.

Paul the Apostle told Timothy about living a Quiet and Peaceful life, he said it is good and acceptable in the sight of God… amazing isn’t it. ‘…that we may lead a QUIET and PEACEABLE LIFE in all godliness and honesty, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour’2 (1 Tim 2 v 2-3). What a Life and I’m sure some of my readers will immediately cast their minds out of Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, London, Kano and the busiest places on earth.

God wants us to ‘Live A Quiet and Peaceful’ life because it is totally acceptable in His sight and the opposite is Unacceptable with Him. It Is a mystery to think that that is achievable in today’s busy world of Danfo, Okada and Keke…oh I’m sorry, the latter have been banned from some Lagos roads (sic).

I’ll like to share with you some profound secrets on how to Live a Quiet Life.

5 SECRETS BEHIND LIVING A QUIET LIFE IN A BUSY WORLD

DO NOT BE NOISY AND LOUSY: You can be in a bus and no one will notice you; while some will be in the same bus and make too much noise; you can live a very quiet life without noise around you. There are people who speak loud on the phones and distract other people, I often wonder if they know that we are not interested in their conversation, yet they forcefully bring us into their matter without our permission. Do not be Noisy and Lousy as a person.

DO NOT DRESS IN A LOUSY MANNER: Many people are noisy in their dressing and fashion; they usually want to make Fashion statements and that make them the centre of attraction daily. I prefer to live moderately and encourage others to do so. We need to teach people about dress sense and not just in colours but in manners.

DO NOT BE FLASHY WITH YOUR WEALTH: This is the sin many preachers commit, which worshippers have sadly embraced. Why tell us about your private jets, your 7-star lifestyle in Dubai, your million dollar wrist watches and palatial mansions that you live in? They are all Private and should be kept as such if you are comfortable with that lifestyle. That is why many people are committing crimes today because they are trying to keep up with the trends.

DO NOT LIVE THE SOCIAL MEDIA LIFESTYLE: I call the flash on social media the lying life, people take pictures of themselves in houses they don’t own, cars they can’t afford, places they’ve not been, people they’ve not met etc. The magic of photoshop has created a Lie that many people live today, and they simply claim they are living their dreams. We need to tell our people the truth between reality and utopia, we should just Live a Simple and Quiet life and Be Happy.

DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH UNGODLY PEOPLE: Give yourself the best gift this season by looking for a good godly church to attend and nurture your soul towards living a quiet and peaceable life. There are many churches out there who fuel the greed in men and make them money monsters in this world. Do not associate with ungodly people even if they come in the name of bishops and pastors.

THE FALL OF THE MIGHTY

One of the most thrilling biblical stories for me is the Rise and Fall of King Saul in Israel; someone who was a nobody being lifted up to prominence without any connection with the Priestly order became the first king of Israel, a product of the clamour of the people, raised up from obscurity and shot into eminence within a jiffy. The big BUT is that he didn’t manage success well at all and he eventually fell flat and David penned down a poem after him and for his kind.

‘The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places and How Are The Mighty Fallen….how are the mighty fallen and the weapons of war perish’ (2 Sam 1 v 19-27).

The modern-day church is obsessed with the liftings of the Mighty and success of the believer so much that we have ignored the sustainable of the Mighty after their prominence. We prepare men for Greatness not Goodness; we conveniently forget that many in scriptures have been Mighty yet Fallen because of some things that were left undone.

I want to Inspire my readers today on how to ‘Prevent a Fall’ not just on how to ‘Produce a Rise’ as we often teach on Sundays and preach during Conventions. It is rather important for us to take a closer look at the other side of the coin so that we do not become a Samson who fell from grace, a Saul who was crushed in battle or a Satan who was thrown down to earth from the glorious place in heaven.

HOW TO PREVENT A FALL IN THIS DECADE

CHARACTER MATTERS: I have taught and will continue to push for a Character focused church not charisma. People today act like Character can be thrown out of the window while we pursue cash or charm, but I will always choose character above the latter any day anytime.

PEOPLE COUNT: Those who fall disregard People and only use them instead of loving them. Relationships count in life and I run from believers who despise people and move on quickly from long standing relationships. If you want to know a good man, check his surroundings, if you cannot find people around him who have been there for decades, run from him.

WEAPONS FAIL: I have noticed with disgust the premium placed on weapons in life above God. I feel bad that we usually think battles are won with weapons, strategy and errors from the enemy and not God. The mighty fell and their weapons of war perished in that passage above. Kindly place your trust in God not your skills, weapons, money and contacts.

LOVE CONQUERS: Make sure you love always because it is going to come back someday to aid and help you from falling and prevent disaster from befalling you. Many people embrace titles and offices when successful and ignore simple virtues like loving even the unlovable. Dedicate your life to loving and it will certainly prevent you from falling.

GRACE KEEPS: The last but surely not the least is Grace. This is my story and my song; it is called amazing grace and it is the main substance that kept David from falling unlike Saul and Samson. Grace is from God and many are kept today by Grace and not works of the flesh or their certificates. Let us all celebrate Grace and we shall reap the fruits of Grace in 2020.

FAITH FATIGUED

I am sure you may feel offended or bewildered with the topic of my article today, but I truly believe that some people are ‘Faith Fatigued’ today in church hence the apparent backslidden state of some of the finest believers.

Paul admonished the Church In Galatia not to be ‘wearied’ in well doing or Fatigued in Faith, this is the way he puts it, ‘and let us not be weary (fatigued) in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not’ (Gal. 6 v 9). It is very clear that people can be fatigued in doing good and keeping faith in a matter.

He repeated the same thing to the Believers in Thessalonica when he was dealing with being ‘lazy’ as Christians; he charged the church that they should not encourage people that do not work but begged, he said he that does not work should not eat…then he rounded up with a chilling directive on doing well at the same time, ‘but you brethren, be not weary in well doing’ (2 Thess. 3 v 13).

I intend to share my thoughts on why we get fatigued in keeping faith today, especially because we do not spend quality time in the Word towards INSPIRING us on how to live in the World. It is the Word that has the capacity to Inspire, Teach, Guide and Help us live well in this World.

4 REASONS PEOPLE ARE FAITH FATIGUED

WHEN SEEDS DO NOT BECOME HARVEST: Paul told the Galatian Believers to continue to sow seeds of ‘good works’ and I’m not saying ‘money’ but good deeds. People do good expecting some good deeds in return somehow, but get Faith Fatigued in the process and cause if nothing happens in return or they do not get a harvest of good deeds.

LACK OF PATIENCE IN OUR TEACHINGS TODAY: We have totally become a ‘microwave’ generation of believers in conduct and behaviour. We are so impatient that we want quick returns on our ‘Faith Investments’ and become WEARIED towards quitting on the Cause. The microwave mindset is not waiting to cook the meal anymore but just get home and bring something out of the refrigerator to ‘quickly’ microwave and eat, that is the mindset killing this generation. Patience is Profitable (SURULERE)

ENVY OTHERS WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING THEIR STORIES: The vice called Envy has done irreparable damage to the lives of our finest and brightest because of lack of information on the truth behind the scenes of wealthy people. Many would see Invictus Obi some years ago and envy him, some pastors may even have attempted inviting him to speak on their pulpits to charge the people on how to succeed, oblivious of the fact that there was some fraud happening behind the scenes.

MISUNDERSTANDING OF OUR FAITH: James spoke about not having the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ with respect of persons. that means many of us really do not understand what the ‘Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ’ truly means. It has nothing to do with wealth, riches, and fame but rather in changing lives morally and saving souls spiritually. Once those two are not in the equation, it’s not the Faith of our Lord Jesus, the reason the Faith Fatigued Generation of Believers are quitting going to church today because of their Faith in Men not in God. Some are disillusioned with the way some bishops live today and now blame God for it all.

Let me stop here and I hope you have been Inspired, do not be Faith Fatigued but Faith Challenged.

WHICH MASK ARE YOU WEARING?

I just finished a very good movie called ‘Money Heist’ and COVID19 stay at home order made it very easy for me to sit at home on the compulsory vacation to watch this very interesting Netflix Spanish series. It’s about some mask wearing criminals that are quite loving and charming, the characters are different from the usual violent and brutal gun wielding criminals who rob banks. These guys have been presented to their audience as very simple people who have ‘feelings’ and can show love.

Well, my thought today is to Inspire you on the Masks they wore. So many of us know that mask wearing today is fanciful and expected to be used as prevention of this deadly virus ravaging the earth and roaming our streets. We are all admonished to buy masks and ensure we wear them appropriately whenever we go out. It’s recommended strongly for our safety and serves as a precaution so that we don’t get infected.

There are many other reasons people wear masks and we should find out the mind of God towards wearing masks literally and figuratively. I’ll briefly share my thoughts from a verse of scripture that tells us to TAKE OFF THE MASKS we wear religiously before the Lord and His people. Paul the Apostle was inspired by the Holy Spirit to charge the church in Corinth about understanding the New Covenant, he had to compare the revelations of Moses on the mountain and consequently wearing a veil to cover his face because of the Glory of God that shone on his face.

‘And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished. But their minds were blinded, for until this day remains the same veil untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament, which veil is done away in Christ, even Unto this day, when Moses is read, the VEIL IS UPON THEIR HEART. Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the Veil Shall Be Taken Away’ (2 Cor. 3v 13-16).

I’ll like to ask you, which mask are you wearing? Because there is a mask that the Lord said we should not wear and must be taken away if we are to enjoy the benefits of the New Covenant same way the doctors have admonished us on the type of masks to wear in order to prevent ourselves from contracting the deadly corona virus. Let me share the different types of masks that we have and hope you can understand the healthy ones and unsafe ones as well. Take the masks away and be quickened.

FIVE (5) DIFFERENT KINDS OF MASKS

RELIGIOUS MASKS: This is the hypocritical mask that many religious people wear every Sunday before this lockdown. We go to church and act like Christians, use the phraseology of believers and sing the songs but our hearts are really far from the faith. Many ladies fall for men that wear these masks and start relationships with them, only for the ladies to realize later that they have been scammed. It is a very terrible mask and I hope religious people will take off the mask of hypocrisy.

SATANIC MASKS: The Bible tells us about ministers of Satan ‘masquerading’ as angels of light to deceive the gullible and naive towards eternal destruction (2 Cor. 11 v 13-15). Those who wear these masks are more dangerous than those who wear the Religious masks. They are evil workers, terrible people and false Apostles in church. They are in partnership with the devil and wear masks to bring men under captivity.

ENTERTAINMENT MASKS: I remember when growing up, I used to be a lover of wrestling entertainment and loved a fellow called ‘Mill Mascaras’ (I hope I got the spelling right). He was the champion and always wore a mask to the ring to cover his identity from the public and add some mystery to his person. He was a good wrestler, but the mask was simply for entertainment. I think this may be likened to what Santa wears during Christmas and some clowns do to entertain the children.

CULTURAL MASKS: This is the African cultural practice that makes people hide in masquerades during certain festivals. I recall that it was a scary thing while growing up in Lagos and children will usually cry when they see them. To dispel my fears, my late father had to explain to me that human beings were the ones under the heavy attire. There is another side to their story though, some do it for rituals and to appease some idols in those days but we thank God for the influence and impact of the Christian faith in our land that had stopped some of these practices.

HEALTH AND SAFETY MASKS: This is what millions of people are wearing today and many more will wear in the coming weeks in the world. It’s to keep us safe from the virus that is infecting and killing people globally in this covid19 pandemic. It’s what I strongly recommend my readers should wear and not take off until the pandemic is defeated.

BACK TO SCHOOL

A wise man once said, ‘the person who graduates today and stops learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after.’ Hence, schooling is continuous, and learning is progressive. I have found out that many people have stopped learning the most important things about life and display their ignorance when it matters most.

I want to take my readers back today to school to learn a course we probably carried over and ensure we are Inspired to pass the course no matter what. This is one subject that even our Saviour had to learn and pass, but, I wonder why we would want to ‘skip’ that class and hope to please God as believers. This is what the writer of Hebrews revealed to us about the subject the Master himself had to ‘learn’ even though He was the Son of God.

Though He was a Son, yet LEARNT He ‘Obedience’ by the things which He suffered’ (Heb. 5 v 8).

Our Lord Jesus being the Son of God couldn’t skip the class on ‘Obedience’, in fact he learnt that subject in the school of life and ministry through the things He ‘Suffered’, yet, many of His followers and disciples want to skip the class on obedience and hope to get over to the next level in life. We conveniently forget that ‘obedience is better than sacrifice…’ I’m worried sick about the kind of believers we are churning out from the Church.

A few things happened in the last week or so about the closure of churches in the country to curb the spread of this deadly virus in our Land. By the way, it’s something happening in other countries as well, the WHO and medical experts (Christians inclusive) advised against social gatherings of more than 20 people if we could help it, yet some church leaders are crying wolf where there is none. To Obey simple instructions have become difficult because we ‘failed’ the class on obedience.

Let me share my thoughts on 4 areas of Obedience that God wants people to ‘learn’, even if we have to learn that Course through suffering and pain; it’s something we have to do like Jesus did in the scriptures above

4 AREAS TO LEARN OBEDIENCE

CIVIL OBEDIENCE: I’m not sure if there is something like ‘civil obedience’ because what we all know is the philosophy of civil disobedience popularized by Mahatma Ghandi and his protege, Martin Luther King Jnr. The latter encourages peaceful protests on laws of the land that may be perceived as injurious to the rights of citizens. Those protests are right when the laws infringe on the rights of citizens but God admonishes us to ‘obey’ those in authority when they make laws to protect and keep us safe like the covid19 restriction of movements (Rom 13 v 1-4; Titus 3 v 1).

SPIRITUAL OBEDIENCE: This is the part many preachers like to teach including myself, especially when it comes to areas around finances like ‘tithing and giving of offerings.’ Truly so, non payment of such is an act of wilful disobedience that must be discouraged and I would appeal to my readers to give towards the things of God and Charity as well. Paul said we should not have ‘relationships’ with people that don’t obey the gospel (2 Thess. 3 v 14)

PARENTAL OBEDIENCE: We have a major challenge today in raising our children. The parents in the last few years in Africa are unfortunately releasing rebels into the society from homes. The Bible teaches home training and demands that children MUST obey their parents (Eph. 6 v 1; Col 3 v 20), because it’s the only commandment with a blessing.

WORKPLACE OBEDIENCE: This is a tricky one on scriptures because they hadn’t abolished ‘slavery’ in the days of the Bible and the Apostles taught the believers to ‘obey’ their masters in all things as unto the Lord (Col. 3 v 22). I believe we can contextualize the same today as corporate obedience for believers.

Have you noticed that we don’t really struggle with the last one because we earn a living from there but challenge the Government when the laws are sometimes even beneficial to us? I know for a fact that, most pastors (including me) loathe disobedience in church but wonder why we teach the same to those in authority….it simply shows the NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL and learn obedience.

MANAGING YOUR BODY

I heard my father in the Lord say something a few years ago to me, he had mismanaged his body by driving it too hard and then broke down with a terrible illness, he of course recuperated and was fine. When we were talking, he told me to always ‘Manage My Body’ very well by doing certain things which I intend to share with us all today.

That equally reminds me of my conversation with one of my staff who believes I can be ‘driven’ like a young twenty something year old man by doing multiple services, meetings, writings and just jumping around without listening to my body, that is one thing we all do very well, ‘thinking less of everyone’s health but only ours.’ I had to tell her to let me be a good manager, not office manager but my body-manager.

Our Lord Jesus also admonished the disciples to do the same thing, and I make bold to say, He must have been doing that (managing His Body) while on earth hence when he noticed that the apostles where living recklessly, He told them to take some time out, take a break from daily routine, take some rest and leave the crowded scene to hide somewhere alone and apart from the people.

‘And He said unto them, Come Ye yourselves apart into a deserted place and REST a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat’ (Mark 6 v 31).

The above scripture is amazing and reveals the work ethic in the camp of the Master, they were hardworking people, very driven and weren’t resting enough, the Lord had to instruct them to Take a Break and Rest a while from daily work and routine. This is what I want to Inspire you all on today. Manage your Bodies.

7 WAYS TO MANAGE YOUR BODIES

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY: There are many people that don’t listen to their bodies but only their hearts. They allow their hearts to drive them to a Breaking Point and then fall sick while some even lose their lives through cardiac arrest etc. The Human Body is designed like a Vehicle that gives you signs when things aren’t well with it, a little head ache here, a back ache, some feverish symptoms etc. learn to Listen To Your Body and you will manage it well.

TAKE A BREAK: The Human Body is the major vessel to express your passions and dreams of the heart, so don’t over drive it by not Resting the Body regularly. That is the beauty of Sleep and why God created it for us all. Every man is meant to Sleep daily, and Rest usually occurs when some of us Sleep. Manage Your Body by Taking a Break regularly.

EAT GOOD FOOD: The human body also needs good meals to ensure healthy living, just like some of us feed our minds with healthy information by reading good books, educating our mind with great information, we should also give our Bodies good treats by eating good Healthy meals. Did You notice Jesus said, ‘…and they had no leisure so much as to eat.’

RELAX WITH LEISURE: The Body should be managed by engaging it in something relaxing and entertaining, the brain sends the right signal to the body when it’s entertained hence the reaction is different from when it’s working. Like when we laugh, we live longer and enjoy the moments. Relax more often and don’t overwork your heart by looking for money like it’s the whole essence of life.

TAKE MEDICATION WHEN NECESSARY: This is a very crucial part of my thought today, I know most Preachers won’t tell you this but there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking medication when necessary in the process of managing your Body. Take a pain killer if you must, take your vitamins to recuperate and so on.

DO SOME EXERCISE: The Bible tells us that Bodily Exercise Profits a Little (1 Tim 4 v 8), so there is wisdom in ensuring that your Body stays strong and fit. Imagine a vehicle that is parked for weeks without someone starting the engine to ensure the oil circulates within…it might develop a bigger fault. Take a 30 minute walk daily on a minimum, it’s very heathy and makes you fitter.

READ THE WORD: Now this is my personal responsibility as a pastor, the Bible tells me that the Word of God is also good for the Body and has a way of working for the strength. ‘My son, attend to my words, incline thine ears unto my sayings…for they are life unto those that find them and HEALTH TO THEIR FLESH’ (Prov. 4 v 20-22).

PETER’S SWOT ANALYSIS

I want to share a thrilling thought with you about one of the most impactful apostle in the New Testament church, and the fact that he excelled after conducting a honest Swot analysis on himself which helped him grow in areas of his weaknesses in ministry. Most believers forget that ‘Men of God’ are Men hence deify them as gods’. Fortunately for us, Peter acknowledged his humanity in the assessment of his strengths and weaknesses.

Swot analysis is the examination of a person by looking at Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of such a person towards identifying areas for development in life and ministry. Most people do that in the marketplace to plan for their path towards achieving career success and impact for those of us in full time ministry. It’s important for those in politics to understand their comparative advantage over their opponents.

However, I’m elated to Inspire you today from scripture on the above subject. I found a passage in the bible that captures the Swot analysis of one of the greatest Apostles in the Bible. ‘Then Peter said, silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk’ (Acts 3 v 6). That is Apostle Peter’s SWOT analysis in brief, and we shall be taking a closer look at the 4 analysis. We shall dissect the scripture above, hoping to extract Peter’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Threats and Opportunities.

FOUR (4) COMPONENTS OF PETER’S ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS: Peter clearly said, ‘such as I have…’, meaning, he knew what he possessed as strength. There is no one on earth who doesn’t have something to offer his generation, the problem is that we haven’t discovered our ‘such as I have’ advantage in life. We have strengths within and talents without but haven’t acknowledged them as strengths for us to bless our generation. Pause and think about it now; WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO OFFER?

WEAKNESSES: Peter started out by mentioning what he lacked and didn’t have when he said, ‘Silver and gold have I none…’ Wow! that sounds like he knew his weakness and what he lacked. The beggar wanted money (one way to solve the problem), but he lacked that and was weak financially but dug deeper within to produce something else he had that could do the same job and even better. Pause and think about this; WHAT DO YOU LACK?

OPPORTUNITIES: Peter and the other Apostles must have passed that crippled man for years but didn’t see any opportunity for manifesting their talents and gifts until that faithful day. The Bible tells us that the man was carried there daily to beg for alms and for over forty years, but the Lord opened the eyes of Peter to the opportunity before him that day and the rest is history. That healing ‘launched’ Peter into the supernatural in ministry. Pause and think about this; WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO YOU PASS BY DAILY UNAWARE?

THREATS: There are always people that will be threatened by your emergence and you shouldn’t halt your talents because of them. The Pharisees and Sadducees attacked this healing and rebuked Peter for this. There are many external threats to your success in life and ministry, and those people may feel you are taking what belongs to them. This is the only place that I differ from Pastors who see their colleagues as ‘threats’ because I feel happier if someone gets saved in another church or even leaves mine to another towards spiritual growth. We shouldn’t be threats to ourselves but the devil and atheists who are threats to us. Pause and think about this; WHO ARE THE THREATS TO YOUR WALK WITH GOD AND SUCCESS IN FAITH?

Let me stop here before I turn this article to a sermon or Booklet. Let’s run some SWOT analysis on ourselves today on our walk with God and not pursuit of money or career paths alone.
